The House Is Gonna Be Great

Great!  Another blog, you say.  Everyone has a blog.  Actually, between the two of us, we have several.  Too many, probably.  HAHA!  BUT...this one is a little different... we hope.  This is where we want to share our adventures of DIY and homeownership with friends, family, and maybe just some interested folks who have similar things going on in their lives.

So here goes!  Our first post about our first home and our first incredibly long list of home projects.

The House....

The house was built in 1937.  It is very unique for the area, and seems to resemble something between cottage style and Tudor style brick architecture.  We're still learning the history.  After 65 years, there is a lot to learn.  We have had a bit of luck as the neighbors have been a wealth of information for us.  They even have a few pictures to show us.

Here is what we know so far: there have been a couple of additions, there once was a barn and several out-buildings, many people have loved the house and taken wonderful care of it, some haven't.

For us, it's home.  It's where we hang our hats.  Where we let our puppy, Tucker, run.  It's where we will grow, learn, and live life to the fullest.

The house needs a bit of work and a bit of love.  It's got GREAT bones, is solid as a rock, and it has a ton of character!  We plan on repairing what's been neglected.   Undoing what should not be. Restoring some of the original character of the house.  Bringing as much as we can up to code.  Making a few tasteful changes along the way that will not only compliment all the original character and architecture, but also work best for our needs.  Above all, we want to maintain all the original charm of this place we now call home.

So follow along on our adventure!

"THE HOUSE IS GONNA BE GREAT!"
